In 2019 SB 167 was passed prioritizing relative search initiatives and recognizing that the continuation of the child’s placement with his or her current caregivers may be in their best interest.
On July 21, 2020 Georgia Governor Brian Kemp Signed into law SB 439. It allows caregivers greater involvement in court on behalf of the children in their care.
HB 855 directs the State Board of Education to assess whether exposure to trauma has adversely impacted the educational performance of a child in foster care.
