Meet Ava & Maggie

Twin baby girls Ava and Maggie were taken into care at birth and placed with a loving foster family. A year went by and they were thriving. Without engagement from the biological parents towards the completion of a case plan and the absence of visitation with the twins, the state could file for termination of parental rights.

The foster family who lovingly cared for the girls were overjoyed at the chance to be a permanent family for Ava and Maggie! As the state moved towards permanency suddenly a relative came forward and demanded to be considered as an adoptive resource. The relative was notified when the twins were born and declined placement.

Fostering Impact’s team advocated for the best interest of Ava and Maggie, and alongside Board of Directors member, attorney Sherriann Hicks, we filed a termination of parental rights motion and made sure the girls psychological attachments to the people they called family were presented to the court.

Ava and Maggie’s emotional well-being and attachments were acknowledged and the girls won the right to stay in their home as adopted daughters!
